Any Given Sundance – Kickin’ It at the Sundance Film Festival

Yes, you heard us correctly, Park City, Utah to be exact, now before you dismiss this article for one written during a night of drunken ‘stupor, let your good folks at Urban Professor put you up on game.

Without further ado, we introduce you to the largest independent film festival in the U.S., a movie fanatic’s toy land, and a celebrity groupie’s meat market, the Sundance Film Festival (January 20th – January 30th).  The what?  Yeah, for many of us kickin’ it in Utah pales in comparison to the thought of a Miami Spring Break, a Los Angeles All-Star Game, the Super bowl in Dallas, New Orleans Mardi Gras, doing anything in New York, or even the taste of Chicago, let us assure you that the Sundance Film Festival holds its own against all of the aforementioned.

Started in 1978 by acclaimed actor Robert Redford, the Sundance Film has grown to be the “it” event for mid-late January.  The Sundance Film Festival named after Redford’s character The Sundance Kid, as in Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, has put some of today’s most popular cult classic films on the map, some of these cult classics like Reservoir Dogs, The Blair Witch Project, Little Miss Sunshine, Napoleon Dynamite, The Usual Suspects and many others.

If movies run second in your life only to partying, the Sundance Film Festival is still the place for you, and yes, we’re still talking about Utah here.  We would even argue that you haven’t really kicked it in your 20’s unless you’ve gone wild “Jersey Shore” style in snow boots and ski jackets.  Many of our most beloved or at least partially loved celebrities from 50 Cent and Paris Hilton to Diddy and Sarah Jessica Parker are certain to circle the Sundance Film Festival on their annual must go calendar, you might want to give it a shot.

Visit www.sundance.org for more on this event, and for you spontaneous jet setters out there, the Sundance festivities for 2011 only just started and will go on though January 30th, so jump on the next flight to Utah and kick it.  For our less spontaneous, but still very cultured Urban Professor fans, be sure to mark the Sundance Film Festival on your calendars for 2012 (January 19, 2012 – January 29, 2012).

Tell them Urban Professor sent you.  Enjoy.  U DEFINE SUCCESS.
